Publication Announcement: Women in Security Television, eds Alexandre Diallo & Sandra Laugier

We are pleased to announce the publication of the collective volume Women in Security Television, co-edited by Alexandre Diallo & Sandra Laugier, published by Routledge:

This book examines the evolving portrayal of leading female characters in the 21st century security TV shows, set behind the scenes of democratic regimes confronting multifaceted threats, ranging from jihadist terrorism to public health crises.

Through a series of case studies, the chapters investigate how women are represented across different geographical and cultural television contexts. Beginning with a definition of the security-series genre and its specificities, the volume brings together scholars from media studies, philosophy, gender studies, and the humanities to examine new forms of visibility, agency, and representation of women in TV series.

This book will be of interest to scholars, postgraduate and doctoral researchers working in media and film studies, popular culture, gender studies, sociology, and philosophy.
